Important note about communications from U3A Banyule:
Most of our news is sent out by email and it is important to provide an email address and keep your email address up to date. You may also need to alter your email security settings to ensure U3A Banyule emails arrive in your Inbox, instead of going into your Junk Mail.

GMAIL users: Sometimes emails may end up in your ‘Promotions’ tab, so remember to check there as well as your ‘Primary’ Inbox. To stop this happening, you can either manually move the emails and apply the change to future messages or disable the ‘Promotions’ tab entirely.

To move emails, right-click the email, select ‘Move to tab’ and choose ‘Primary’.  Reply 'Yes' to the popup question ‘Do this for future messages from…’

To disable the tab, go to Settings (the gear icon) > See all settings > Inbox and uncheck 'Promotions' under the ‘Categories’ section before saving.

* COVID is still with us, and in group settings like ours, transmission is easy.
If you are feeling unwell, please don’t come to classes until you are SURE you haven’t got COVID.  Thank you *

The U3A Banyule Strategic Plan 2025-2028 sets the direction and vision for our organisation for the coming years. It seeks to be relevant to the current needs of our U3A and builds upon the work of the previous plan.

This is the fourth strategic plan prepared by the U3A Banyule Committee of Management. It was written during 2025 and informed by the views of members through surveys, strategic planning workshops and direct consultation. Banyule Council Volunteer Awards, 21 May 2025 - U3A Banyule 'Highly Commended'

U3A Banyule received a ‘Highly Commended’ award at the annual Banyule Council Volunteer Awards Night. Our organisation is one of the largest in the state and is run entirely by volunteers; a remarkable achievement.  Fourteen organisations were nominated in the category of Community Group or Community Initiative, and Sue Beshara's outstanding application helped secure our win.

Currently providing courses, classes and services for over 900 members, U3A Banyule has evolved into a complex, highly structured and well-managed organization. As a non-for-profit volunteer incorporated body, this is achieved and maintained through the contributions of members who volunteer to take on diverse roles. From Catering Coordinator to Website Manager, there are 36 position descriptions, all with an outline of responsibilities applicable to each role.

Interested in contributing as a volunteer?  See more information at Volunteering

U3A Banyule Policies

Our Strategic Plan identified a need to ensure that our members were aware of the policies that have been developed over several years by the Committee of Management.  From time to time, we summarise and feature policies just to give members a little refresh.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy articulates the importance of protecting the privacy of the personal information collected from members and volunteers, such as through membership and course registration processes. Images may be used in  U3A Banyule publications, on the website and in class or meeting recordings, subject to members' willingness. You can always opt out at the time images are being taken.

Your information will not be shared with or disclosed to third parties and will be stored and used as set out in the policy. If you believe that your personal information has been compromised or misused, contact the Secretary as soon as possible, email:info@u3abanyule.org.au. The Privacy and Security Officer will investigate and report their findings, including remedies as appropriate.

You can view the policy by following the link above or under the Document Library tab on the website.

Banyule City Council Celebrates Seniors

Banyule Council has released the video "Age is Just a Number" on positive ageing.  President Judith Craze was asked to be involved as an interviewee and tutor Sheila and the French class are featured. Watch the little video all the way through and we hope you have a bit of a laugh as well as the sense that there is plenty for Seniors to do in Banyule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cVR4KCcLF0

U3A Banyule Strategic Plan 2022-24

The U3A Banyule Strategic Plan 2022-2024 builds upon the work of previous Committees of Management and has been informed by member surveys undertaken over the last year.

This is the third strategic plan prepared by the U3A Banyule Committee of Management. It was prepared at the beginning of 2022 supported by a Banyule City Council Community Grant, which enabled the Committee of Management to engage a consultant to facilitate the preparation of the plan.
