Our Organisation

U3A Banyule is one of the oldest U3A campuses in Victoria.

It was launched as a campus for the North-Eastern Regional suburbs (under the original name of Yarra Valley U3A) in July 1986. The foundational members numbered 59 and at a meeting in the Condor Room in the Heidelberg Town hall, a steering committee of 19 members established a thriving U3A. Some of the foundation courses are still offered today, but under a changed format.

In July 2016 the 30th Anniversary was celebrated at the Streeton Room, Ivanhoe Centre. For this event the Story of U3A Banyule was written which highlights the growth and development of U3A Banyule since 1986. Today we have over 800 members and offer in excess of 150 courses and activities each year.
